Their food is always fabulous. The service excellent. The site on the hill, above the river, in the thick oak shade, the perfect ambiance.
Efficient check-in system at the hostess station. Provide your cell number and they will text you. Very little onsite parking, but lots of parking down the street. Not an issue. Great happy hour specials.
The service was excellent, we were impressed by Emersen. The chips seemed to be homemade, and if not, they were as close to homemade as can be. Nevertheless, they weren't out of a Doritos bag like others. The hot sauce is addictive. I would recommend not parking in their small lot, it might be hard getting out of the space. There is a big parking lot close by with room and it's free. After all, when dining on Mex. Food, one has to walk afterwards! I had the taco plate and loved them. They were just plain good and even came with guacamole. The taco shells were crisp and fresh, with picadillo. Again, good job Emersen. We must have been checked on a half dozen times?
On our most recent visit I got the Chicken Fajita Nachos and they were AMAZING. If you can't decide what to get I suggest you try these. And they were a great portion size. Perfect for sharing!
Our server Christian was so fun and attentive! The food was great for the price! $13 for cheese enchiladas. Atmosphere was fun and margaritas were good. Not craft but good!
Stopped in for a quick lunch and thought we'd try this place out. Chicken fajitas were really good. And let's not forget about the perfectly cooked onions and peppers to go with it. The pork tacos....... Yum!!
Cantina del rio was awesome I really enjoyed the treehouse vibes they had going on. My chicken fajitas were so flavorful and even though it was for one I had plenty of left overs! Our server Tabitha was super attentive & was really sweet when we accidentally spilled a drink (sorry tabby). overall I would be back for the decently priced yet delicious food and awesome service.

Visited Gruene on Saturday before Christmas and it was popping! Wanted a margarita and knew this was the place to go. There was no wait around 1 and we got a great table outside. Our service was great! Very nice waitress. We only ordered guacamole and some margaritas but it was all correct and came very quickly. The margaritas were yummy! I got a skinny margarita. It was pretty small but was tasty. The guacamole was really good and I LOVE their chips. Very crispy and yummy. Chips could be eaten on their own which I always like. The outside area was very pretty and had a great vibe. All in all a fun little restaurant that we will need to visit again.
